Talent, Oregon is located at the southern end of the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon. Nestled against the Siskiyou Mountains, Talent is located just four miles from Ashland and seven miles from Medford with easy access to Interstate 5.

The Rogue Valley has been known for many years for its fine fruit. The valley’s pears were made famous by the gourmet fruit gift company, Harry & David’s, although many of the pear orchards have now been replaced by vineyards. Paschal’s winery in Talent produced a gold metal winning Syrah in 2004.

Talent’s population increased from 5,589 in 2000 to 6525 in 2007. Several new subdivisions were built between 2000 and 2006, although current nationwide economic conditions have slowed development in the city. Well over half of the city’s population is under 45 years of age, according to the 2000 census, the median age was just over 34.

Students living in Talent attend schools in the Phoenix-Talent District 4 schools. The district includes Phoenix High School, Talent Middle School and three elementary schools, including Talent Elementary. The district is currently studying the feasibility of beginning a magnet school.

The Rogue Valley has much to offer to persons with all kinds of interests. The world famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival is located in Ashland. This festival sells more tickets annually than any other theater in the nation and brings 100,000 visitors annually to the valley.

The Rogue River offers excellent fishing and white water rafting. Publicly owned forestlands offer beautiful sight seeing. For an easy day trip, enjoy a drive to Crater Lake National Park. There you will view the nation’s deepest lake. The lake is located in the top of a now inactive volcano. Another quick drive takes you through the Redwoods to the Oregon Coast. There you will enjoy beautiful views, stunning sunsets and the opportunity to wade through a tide pool.
