Medford Real Estate Information

Medford, Oregon is located approximately 25 miles north of the California boarder on Interstate Highway 5. Medford is the largest of all the cities in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon and is the county seat of Jackson County.

At one time, there were many pear orchards in the area surrounding Medford, although in the past few years, the many of the orchards have been transformed into vineyards. The pears were packed and shipped around the world. The world’s largest gourmet fruit company, Harry & David’s is located in Medford. In honor of the pear growers, the city celebrates the Pear Blossom Festival in late March each year. There are now over 35 vineyards in the area and many offer wine tasting tours.

The Rogue River offers many water sports activities, including white water rafting and excellent fishing. There are several fine golf courses in the Medford area. There are also beautiful parks available inside the city for public enjoyment.

A wonderful day trip is a drive to Crater Lake, United States deepest lake. The clear blue lake is located at the top of a now inactive volcano and is inside of Crater Lake National Park. In the wintertime, snowdrifts at the park may be well over six feet in depth and tunnels are provided from the parking lot into the gift shop and restaurant. A few snowdrifts may be found as late as the Fourth of July.

Several new hotels have opened in the past year along the newly constructed South Interchange from Interstate 5. These very fine lodging establishments offer a quality nights rest for tourists in the area and fill a need that has existed for several years in Medford.

Medford is a favorite place to live for both young and old, but many persons choose to live their retirement years in the wonderful Rogue Valley.
